8. The couple on the bus
A bus full of passengers climbs steadily up a hill and stops at the peak, where an elderly couple gingerly get off.
No one else gets on or off.
The bus resumes its journey and descends slowly down the hill, when a sudden avalanche throws a huge boulder onto the bus, killing everyone on board.
All of this occurs within the view of the elderly couple, who are horrified.
The man looks at his wife and says, “We should have stayed on the bus.”
Why?
